Dr Bindu Menon, Associate Professor of Media Studies, Azim Premji University gave a lecture on "Aural Awakenings: Historicising Listening in Kerala" as part of Fr George Koyikkara Endowment Lecture on Tuesday, 26 September 2023 at Mariyan Hall. Dr Bindu spoke on the history of sounds as integral in narrating the history of Kerala. Through a close examination of periodicals, film writing, publicity material and music, she mapped the specific trajectories of film sound-music, dialogues, and background scores- and their entanglements with language, culture and technology in the 20th century. The lecture was indeed enlightening as it draws attention to the frontiers of literary explorations.
